Metal Bending?

Metal bending involves fabrication, a process that involves bending or shaping sheet metal into the required shape by means of a press brake or any other equipment. It is the act of applying pressure on metal sheets to bend them to form components in a very diverse assortment of industries including automotive, aerospace, and construction.

The operation can be used to make various folds, the simplest are a 90-degree angle, and the most intricate ones are the curved ones. The metal bending procedure also makes sure that the components are consistent in their positioning to the design specification demands with a degree of strength and elasticity to provide long life end products.

Categories of Metal Bending

Air Bending

Air bending uses a punch and die to exert force on a metal sheet to form a bend of the required angle. This approach is versatile and best suited in the mass production of parts with tight tolerances, which are bent.

 

Bottoming Bending

It is a process that involves a die to bend the metal entirely around the punch to have a sharp and precise bend. Bottoming is applicable in applications that require greater accuracy in part geometry.

Coining Bending

Coining is a very fine metal bending procedure to parts with close tolerance and low radii. It is mostly used in complex shapes and a detailed design giving high precision of every bend.
